The poem from the book "The Grumpy Old Welshman" that created the vision, the inertia and the personal cost of this venture.

The Severn Lake c2030

Placid and tamed, yachts stepping their masts
A man-made asset, income to the last
Business and development will follow the shores
Pride for the decision, contempt for the bores

Turbines and wave power align the dam
They start producing when the first concrete ran
The land-fill core-rams moves a metre a week
Providing centre space sealed in, no leak

Lavernock meets Devon, employment for life
Paid for by tide and wave, waste cost site
As the years pass by the park will flourish
Fishing and cycling on top of the rubbish!

Yachting and boating in a man made haven
Host the Olympics, twenty-thirty-seven
A target for Ashambly, something real to make
Let's do it, let's build it, the Severn Lake
